President Trump says “India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire”.

On behalf of Pakistani community in Denmark, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to President Trump and his government’s efforts to arrange this vital ceasefire which went into effect today at kl.17.00 local time. We believe that peace is preferable to war and the loss of life. That is why, USA’s help is much appreciated.

In a post on social media platform Truth Social, the US President says: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.

“Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

President Trump further said that the ceasefire is the result of “a long night of talks mediated by the United States” – his secretary of state praised India and Pakistan for their “wisdom” and “prudence”.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that he and Vice President, JD Vance spent the past 48 hours with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif. The result was positive and India and Pakistan “have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site”.

In a post on X, he added: “We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

Pakistan and India are two major countries in Southeast Asia and peace between them would be good for the people of these two countries, the region, and the world at large.

Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar said: “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region and that is why, Pakistan has agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Earlier this week, India struck targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in response to a deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam on 22 April, 2025, for which India blamed Pakistan. Islamabad denied any involvement.
