Visit from Marie Brixtofte – A Dialogue on the Future of Denmark

It was a great pleasure to welcome Marie Brixtofte for an engaging and inspiring visit.

Warm congratulations to Marie Brixtofte on her appointment as Housing and Tax Spokesperson. Housing and tax policy are among the most important areas in our society, as they have a significant impact on citizens, businesses, and the overall economy.

We look forward to a constructive collaboration on tax and housing policy with Marie Brixtofte, as well as with our associated certified public accountants, real estate agents, lawyers, and other business professionals within our extensive network.

Marie Brixtofte is an economist and licensed psychologist. For many years, she has worked with children, young people, and adults affected by addiction, as well as individuals raised in families struggling with substance abuse. Her professional expertise and extensive experience have made her a prominent voice in the fields of mental health, social welfare, and prevention.

Over a pleasant lunch, we had the opportunity to discuss her key political priorities, as well as her important new roles as Housing Spokesperson and Tax Spokesperson.

Helping More Children and Young People Embrace Life with Confidence

When asked what she specifically means by her vision that more children and young people should have confidence in life, Marie replied:

“It means that children and young people should believe in themselves and in their future. They should feel safe, thrive within supportive communities, and have the courage to take on challenges, even when there is a risk of failure.”

This vision highlights the importance of well-being, strong communities, and resilience among the next generation.

The Greatest Challenge for Danish Business

When asked what she believes will be the biggest challenge facing Danish businesses over the next ten years, Marie emphasized the need for skilled labour and continuous competence development:

“The greatest challenge for Danish businesses over the next decade will be ensuring access to sufficient qualified labour while adapting to new technologies, digitalisation, and the green transition. Competitiveness will depend on whether companies can attract talent and continuously develop the skills of their employees.”

In this context, we also discussed the importance of strong legal certainty in tax matters. Clear, stable, and predictable regulatory frameworks are essential for business investment, growth opportunities, and trust between citizens, companies, and public authorities.

Independent Care Homes and the Future of Elder Care

Marie was also asked about the advantages of independent care homes compared with municipally operated care homes. She highlighted the value of freedom of choice and innovation:

“The greatest advantage of independent care homes is increased freedom of choice and greater opportunities for innovation. They can often respond more quickly to residents’ needs and develop new solutions, while competition can help improve the overall quality of elderly care.”

Congratulations on the New Spokesperson Roles

We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Marie Brixtofte on her new appointments as Housing Spokesperson and Tax Spokesperson. These are among the most influential spokesperson roles in Danish politics, given their significant impact on citizens, businesses, and the development of society as a whole.

Marie has also authored several books on topics including digital health, growing up in families affected by addiction, loneliness, low self-esteem, and anxiety. Together with psychologist David Madsen and medical specialist Imran Rashid, she co-founded the Center for Digital Sundhed, where she advises on the digital habits and challenges faced by children, young people, and adults in an increasingly digitalised world.
